25th SIS Germany anniversery

In 1987 Stephan Berndt, Reiner Grisse, Jochen Ohlig and Thomas Patt founded their own freight forwarding company, SIS GmbH. The company consisted of 5 employees. Previously everybody worked for a big German forwarding group. During the first 9 months of the business year the company had a turnover of 6,7 Million DM (Deutsche Mark).

Together with its associated companies, SIS has approx. 350 employees in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Estland, Slovakia, Russia, India and China. The group realizes a sales revenue of appox. 130 Million Euro. In 1990 SIS GmbH bought the regionally significant transportation company Leopold Schäfer GmbH and moved its head office to D-57290 Neunkirchen/Siegerland. The area Siegerland was famous in Europe for its ore mining until the sixties of the previous century. The mines reach a depth of up to 1200 meters. Today the Siegerland, placed in the middle of Germany, is the second largest economic region for mechanical engineering. The spare part business for these exported maschines is one of the main pillars of our airfreight department, which is the market leader in the region between Frankfurt and Cologne. On the main day, on Friday, we often have four large trucks driving to Frankfurt airport in the evening. We are proud to be a part of the world alliance FNC!
